Description

Messier 63, aka Sunflower Galaxy ( NGC5055) is one of the very structured galaxies in the Northern Skies. Depending on the data source, its distance to Earth is between 25 and 37Mio LJ and its diamater about 50-60.000 LJ. Its core is very bright and suggests the existance of a black hole in its center.

On  ultralong exposures, one can see a slim startrail surrounding the galaxy - however, one needs extralong exposure time to see it.

The image is a LRGB image, processed in PixInsight and Photoshop, the total exposure time is about 11 hours
